- The Hessian sparsity pattern no longer depends on the values of
the problem unknowns and Lagrange multipliers, but just on the
structure of the problem. This implies that, for certain argument
values, zero entries will occur where previously there would have
been no entry. The advantage of a fixed pattern is that this
simplifies the job for users of sparse-matrix solvers which
often presume that this is the case.
