CUTEr has been superceded by
CUTEst
and is no longer supported. Please proceed to the new
web site.

Decvelopent of CUTEr migrated to the
development
website. Please go there for all the latest news.
- [January, 2007]
-
Updated MEX interface to return the complete sparse
Hessian instead of the lower triangle only, for
consistency with the dense tools.
- [September, 2005]
-
Added new tools pbname, varnames and connames. See
man pages for details.
- [July, 2005]
-
Added updated interface to KNITRO 4.0. Added support for
the GNU gfortran Fortran 90/95 compiler. This compiler
is now part of GCC 4.x and is not to be confused with
g95.
- [June, 2005]
-
Updated nearly all man pages. They now contain equations
which are best viewed using
man -p e manpage
Check your local man settings.
- [March, 2005]
-
CUTEr and SifDec are now available on MAC OS-X platforms.
Thanks to Mike Friedlander!
Fixed a bug in the interface to CG+ and a problem in
the interface to IPOPT in single precision. Thanks to
Ling-Yun Wu.
- [February, 2005]
-
CUTEr and SifDec now have an
online discussion forum
to solve user problems, submit contributions and for general discussion.
- [September, 2004]
-
Added new interfaces to the packages CG+, CG_Descent, TRON and
updated the interfaces to LBFGS and L-BFGS-B.
- [May, 2004]
-
Added support for
GNU g95 Fortran 90/95
compiler on Linux i386 machines.
- [June, 2003]
-
Added an interface to NITSOL (Pernice and Walker).
Added the flags -L, --blas and --lapack to the CUTEr
scripts. See the man pages for details.

CUTEr compiles out-of-the-box on Windows 2000 and Windows XP platforms
running Cygwin. Make sure to have g77 and
gcc installed, as well as the basic Unix tools such as grep, sed, awk and make.
In the installation, pretend you are using Linux. Thanks to Hande Benson.
Note 1: Cygwin comes with the tcsh shell and no csh. You may have
to create the symbolic link csh -> tcsh in /bin.
Note 2: Make sure not to unpack the CUTEr archive with WinZip,
which would not properly retrieve LF and CR/LF characters. Many thanks to
Brad Bell for his numerous detailed comments in this matter.
Note 3: A native version for Windows might be available in the
not-too-distant future. Please let me know
if you would be interested.

Installation phase of CUTEr has been revamped, so no external program
need be installed by the user. This helps users install CUTEr on
servers not equipped with the X environment, while retaining the
advantages of make. Consistent interfacing between the Fortran compilers
and a selection of C/C++ compilers was implemented.

CUTEr interfaces Argonne National Lab's
TAO, the Toolkit for
Advanced Optimization, and John Reid's LA04 from the
HSL 2002,
implementing a steepest-edge simplex method.

New C header file cuter.h aiding in the design of
interfaces between the CUTEr tools and packages written in
C. Added an interface to the linesearch-based primal-dual
interior-point code
LOQO, authored
by
Robert
Vanderbei. Many thanks to Andreas Wächter for some of the
programming and Hande Benson for testing and comments. The whole
software should be reinstalled.
Important note: The communication between C and Fortran
is highly platform-dependent but also compiler-dependent. Hence,
not all combinations have been tested yet. The C interface has
been successfully tested under Linux with g77/gcc and ifc/gcc,
and under Solaris with f77/cc, f77/gcc, f90/cc and f90/gcc. No
guarantees at this time for other combinations, but all comments
or information are warmly
welcome!

New interface to the primal-dual interior-point package
IPOPT 2.0. Download the updated CUTEr distribution.
The software should be re-installed because new dependencies
have been added.
The
Maros
and Meszaros convex QP collection has been updated to remove
DOS-style end-of-line characters.
This section will contain information on bug fixes, updates, patches, new
releases, new platform support, etc.
Please check back regularly.
